	The MIDAS array, or Mutara Inter-Dimensional Deep Space Transponder Array, was a communications array developed jointly between Starfleet and the Vulcans. It utilised hyper-subspace technology to greatly speed up transmission time. It was launched around 2376, and used to make contact with USS Voyager in that year. The expanded name of the array doesn't translate easily to the acronym 'MIDAS'. The full name is mentioned only once in the episode, spoken at very high speed by Barclay.
