Federation Colony / Expedition Database - Archaeological Expedition, Camus II

History:
Camus II. Planet that was once home to a technologically advanced society. Dr. Janice Lester and Dr. Arthur Coleman were the only two survivors od a disastrous Federation archaeological expedition to Camus II in 2269. In one of the dig sites, Lester discovered an extraordinary life-energy transfer device that she used to change bodies with Captain James T. Kirk.
TOS "Turnabout Intruder"
The Enterprise-D was scheduled to conduct an archaeological survey mission to Camus II in 2367, but had to bypass the planet when it received a distress call from the Federation freighter U.S.S. Arcos.
TNG "Legacy"
Captain Picard's reference to bypassing an archaeological survey of Camus II in the opening captain's log of "Legacy" was an "in-joke" devised by Rick Berman, Jonathan Frakes, and Eric Stillwell. It's a tip of the hat to ("Turnabout Intruder" TOS), the 79th and last episode of the original Star Trek series, which involved an archaeological mission to Camus II.("Legacy" TNG) was the 80th episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
