Federation Starfleet Class Database - Excelsior Study Model I

STARSHIP NAME REGISTRY NUMBER   INFO
U.S.S. Alka-Selsior NCC-1404   In 2368, the Alka-Selsior was one of the many decommissioned ships stored at Surplus Depot Z15 in orbit of Qualor II.
TNG "Unification I", "Unification II"
This studio model was one of the concept models designed for the USS Excelsior for Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The name was an in-joke reference to the Alka-Seltzer brand-name of indigestion medicine, and a play on the name Excelsior.

History:
Nothing is known about this starship class whose construction seems to date back to the beginning of the 24th century or earlier.
TNG "Unification"
This is one of five study models for the Excelsior, built in the course of the pre-production of "Star Trek III". The model briefly appeared on screen in TNG: "Unification" and possibly in "Best of Both Worlds" too. The real starship most likely isn't related to the Excelsior class. It is named "Excelsior study" in this list only due to the lack of a proper name.
