History:
The Zodiac class was neither seen nor mentioned in a filmed episode. The name Zodiac was developed by behind-the-scenes creative personnel to refer the class of the vessel mentioned in "All Good Things," referenced in the Encyclopedia by Okuda, et al. Although the mention of the Yorktown was in an alternate timeline set several decades into TNG's future, the registry number of this ship seems to indicate it would have been commissioned before the TNG era, making it quite old by that time. However, this would make it the Zodiac-class Yorktown which was referenced in one of Riker's hallucinations in TNG:"Frame of Mind."
