Captain J.T. Esteban. The investigation team included Lieutenant Saavik and Dr. David Marcus. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock The Grissom was designed by David Carson and built at ILM. | U.S.S. Pegasus | NCC-53847 |
|
Commanded by Captain Erik Pressman. The Pegasus was a prototype ship, used as a
testbed for many new systems designs, many of which were later used in the design of the Galaxy-class starships. While it was not
widely known at the time, the Pegasus was also used a testing ground for an experimental phasing cloak, in direct violation of the
Treaty of Algeron. The Pegasus crew protested the illegal test and eventually mutinied, forcing the captain and seven other crew
members to escape the ship in a pod. Shortly after the captain departed, the crew attempted to shut down the cloak. The device
malfunctioned, and the ship difted in space, in a cloaking state until it came to rest within the body of an asteroid in the Devolin
system. All members of the crew, save the seven who escaped, were lost when the ship unphased, leaving parts of the ship open to
vacuum and parts encased in solid rock. TNG "The Pegasus" The Pegasus was named for the famos winged horse of Greek mythology that legend holds sprang from the severed neck of Medusa. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |

red super giant star into a white dwarf in 2364 when the entire crew of 80 became infecting with a varaint of the Psi 2000 virus.
All ship's personnel died from the effects of the virus. TNG "The Naked Now" The Tsiolkovsky was named for Russian space pioneer Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The ship miniature was a re-dress of the Grissom from Star Trek III. The dedication plaque for the ship bore a quote from Tsiolkovsky: "The Earth is the cradle of the mind, but one cannot remain in the cradle forever." Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Yosemite | NCC-19002 |
|
The Yosemite was severely damaged while conducting a study of the plasma streamer
between a binary star pair in the Igo Sector in 2369. During transport of plasma sanples to the ship, quasi-energy microbes caused an
explosion of a sample container, resulting in severe damage to the ship and the death of at least one crew member. TNG "Realm of Fear" The ship was named for Yosemite National Park. Star Trek Encyclopedia II The Yosemite, under the command of Captain J. Swift, visited Deep Space 9 in 2370. DS9 "Whispers" |

The name of this vessel was neither spoken nor readable on the hull of the ship in the film, but a clearer view of the studio model was afforded on the Discovery Channel program Movie Magic in an episode featuring special effects work from Industrial Light & Magic, the company that did the effects for Generations. |
