| U.S.S. Al-Batani | NCC-42995 |
|
Kathryn Janeway once served aboard the Al-Batani as science officer under command
of Captain Paris. VOY "Caretaker" Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Berlin | NCC-14232 |
|
Stationed near the Romulan Neutral Zone in 2364 just prior to the first Romulan
violation of the zone since the Tomed Incident. TNG "Angel One" Named for the State capital Germany. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Cairo | NCC-42136 |
|
Commanded by Captain Edward Jellico. The Cairo transported Vice-Admiral Necheyev
to a rendezvous with the Enterprise-D in 2369 when it was feared Cardassians were developing a metagenic weapon. TNG "Chain of Command, Part I" The Cairo was lost and presumed destroyed in 2374 by Dominion forces while on patrol near Romulan Neutral Zone. The ship had been under the command of Captain Leslie Wong at the time of its disappearance. DS9 "In the Pale Moonlight" Named for the State capital Egypt . Star Trek Encyclopedia II , III |
| U.S.S. Charleston | NCC-42285 |
|
An Earth-bound ship that the Enterprise, out near the Neutral Zone, offers as
transport home for its three 20th Century passengers. The trip to Earth will be of several months, though, on top of the
Charleston's unexpected delay at Arloff IX. TNG "The Neutral Zone" City in North America. Star Trek Encyclopedia II ; Startrek.com |
| U.S.S. Crazy Horse | NCC-50446 |
|
The Crazy Horse was part of task force 3, under Captain Picard's indirect command
during an exepected Borg invasion of late 2369. TNG "Descent, Part I" The Enterprise-D was ordered to pick up Admiral Erik Pressman. TNG "The Pegasus" The Crazy Horse was named for the Oglala Sioux chief, who was one of the most important Native American leaders at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Crockett | NCC-38955 | Starship was diverted by Admiral Misuya on stardate 47573 (2370) so he could stop
by Deep Space Nine to talk with Commander Sisko about "Cardassian foreign policy" - though Science Officer Dax suspected
it was really to clean him out in poker again. DS9 "Paradise" The Crockett was named after Davey Crockett, American frontiersman and politican. Star Trek Encyclopedia II ; Startrek.com
| U.S.S. Excelsior | NCC-2000 |
|
Under the command of Captain Hikaru Sulu, the ship begann a three-year research
mission in 2290, cataloging planetary atmospheric anomalies. Upon successful completion of this mission, Sulu and the Excelsior
played a key role in the Khitomer peace conference of 2293. Once the ship was awarded operational status, her registry number was
changed to NCC-2000. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country The Excelsior's bridge control panels and computer readout display seen in Star Trek VI. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Farragut | NCC-2582 |
|
Sabrina Douglas and her friends, Patrick, Jack, and Lauren traveled aboard the
Farragut under false pretenses to station Deep Space 9 in early 2375. DS9 "Chrysalis" This was presumably the namesake of the Farragut on which Kirk served as a cadet (TOS "Obsession"),and perhaps also the Nebula-class ship seen in Star Trek Generations and destroyed in (DS9 "Nor the Battle to the Strong"). "Chrysalis" did not explicity establish this Farragut to be an Excelsior-class ship, but we did see such a ship at Deep Space 9 during the episode, so we are assuming that it was the Farragut. We speculate it was an older ship that had predated the Nebula-Class vessel and had been decommissioned, but was pressed back into service during the Dominion war after the destruction of the Nebula-class ship. Star Trek Encyclopedia III The NCC-2582 is from the DECIPHER Star Trek Roleplaying Game Starships Book |
| U.S.S. Fearless | NCC-14598 (NCC-4598) |
|
Starfleet propulsion specialist Kosinski performed an unsuccessful series of
experimental engine software upgrades on the Fearless in 2364. The Fearless later transtported Kosinski and his assistant to the
Enterprise-D, where similar upgrades were attempted. TNG "Where No One Has Gone Before" In the Star Trek Fact Files the registry is NCC-4598. Star Trek Encyclopedia II Star Trek Fact Files |
| U.S.S. Fredrickson | NCC-42111 |
|
The Fredrickson was one of several ships damaged in battle against forces of the
Dominion in early 2374. DS9 "A Time to Stand" The ship was named for Anthony Fredrickson, a scenic artist on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Star Trek Encyclopedia III (registry identified by on-screen visual). Approximately two years prior to Stardate 49123 VOY "Relativity" |
| U.S.S. Gorkon | NCC-40512 (NCC-40521) |
|
The Gorkon was Admiral Necheyev's flagship during the expected Borg invasion of
2369. TNG "Descent, Part I" Named for Chancellor Gorkon, seen in Star Trek VI. In the Star Trek Fact Files the registry is NCC-40521. Star Trek Encyclopedia II Star Trek Fact Files |
| U.S.S. Grissom | NCC-42857 |
|
The Grissom was near the Sigma Erandi system during the tricyanate contamination
on Beta Agni II in 2366. Enterprise-D requested the Grissom to stand by should assistance be needed. TNG "The Most Toy" This was presumably a newer U.S.S. Grissom, since the earlier ship of the same name was destroyed in Star Trek III. Star Trek Encyclopedia II Destroyed by Jem'Hadar in the Battle of Rikter Prime; six survivors out of 1250 DS9 "Field of Fire" |
| U.S.S. Hood | NCC-42296 (NCC-42768) |
|
Commanded by Robert DeSoto. Commander William T. Riker served aboard this ship
prior to his assigment to the Enterprise-D. TNG "Encounter at Faipoint, Part I and II" The Hood intercepted the Enterprise-D in the Hayachi system to deliver Tam Elbrun and new orders for the Enterprise to proceed to Beta Stromgren for the encounter with Tin Man in 2366. TNG "Tin Man" The Hood was one of the starships sent to the Romulan Neutral Zone border in preparation for a possible battle after Starfleet received warnings of a Romulan buildup at Planet Nelvana II in 2366. The warnings, from Romulan defector Alidar Jarok, were later found to be baseless. TNG "The Defector" The Hood was scheduled to join the Enterprise-D on a terraforming mission to planet Browder IV in 2366. TNG "Allegiance" The Hood fought in the combined fleet of allied Alpha Quadrant forces that invaded Cardassian space at the Chin'toka System in late 2374. DS9 "Tears of the Prophets" This was presumably at least the second Federation starship to bear the name. The Hood was a re-use of the excelsior model built for Star Trek III. The footage of the Hood flying alongside the Enterprise-D created for TNG "Encounter at Farpoint" was re-used numerous times to represent other Excelsior-class ships. | U.S.S. Intrepid | NCC-38907 |
|
The Intrepid was the first ship to respond to the Klingon distress calls when the
Khitomer outpost was under attack by the Romulans in 2346. TNG "Sins of the Father" Chief Petty Officer Sergey Rozhenko was a warp-field specialist on the Intrepid. Following the Khitomer rescue, Rozhenko adopted a small Klingon child named Worf, who had been found among the wreckage at Khitomer. TNG "Family" In 2370, Commander Donald Kaplan was the chief engineer of the Intrepid. TNG "Force of Nature" In 2375, while infiltrating Species 8472's Terrasphere 8 in the Delta Quadrant, Commander Chakotay of the U.S.S. Voyager claimed to have just arrived from a three-year tour on the Intrepid. The creature posing as groundskeeper Boothby noted that the Intrepid was patrolling the Romulan Neutral Zone at the time. This, though, was a contrived scenario in 8472's training simulation of the Federation. VOY "In the Flesh" This was presumably at least the second starship to bear the name Intrepid, since an earlier Intrepip was destroyed in TOS "The Immunity Syndrome". There was presumably yet another U.S.S. Intrepid that served as the prototype for the Intrepid-class U.S.S. Voyager. Star Trek Encyclopedia II, III |
| U.S.S. Lexington | NCC-14427 |
|
The Lexington rendezvous with the Enterprise-D and transferred medical supplies to
them for delivery to the Taranko colony. TNG "Thine Own Self" Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Livingston | NCC-34099 |
|
Curzon Dax and Ben Sisko served together on the Livingston for several months
during their 20-year friendship. On stardate 47182.1, they recalled one incident involving the ship's science officer, Kustanovich.
DS9 "Invasive Procedures" The Livingston may have been named for American statesman Robert R. Livingston, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, but most likely was an homage to Star Trek producer-director David Livingston. Star Trek Encyclopedia II ; Startrek.com |
| U.S.S. Malinche | NCC-38997 |
|
On stardate 50485.2, under the command of Captain Sanders, the Malinche patrolled
the Demilitarized Zone, near Gamma 7 outpost. It was attacked and disabled by a group of Maquis raiders led by Michael Eddington.
DS9 "For the Uniform" The ship was named after the 16th-century Mexican princess who was originally a slave given as a peace offering to the Spanish conquistadors by the Tabascan Indians. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Melbourne | NCC-62043 |
|
The Melbourne was stationed at Starbase 74 in 2364 when the Bynars hijacked the
Enterprise-D, but was unable to give chase because of maintenance in progress. TNG "11001001" Commander William Riker was offered command of the U.S.S. Melbourne in late 2366, but hedeclined the promotion, preferring to remain executive officer on the Enterprise-D. TNG "The Best of Both Worlds, Part I" Shortly thereafter, the Melbourne was once of 39 Federation starships destroyed by the Borg in the battle of Wolf 359. TNG "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II" The U.S.S. Melbourne takes its name from the Australian city. There were actually a Nebula-class model, barely glimpsed as a wrecked hulk in the spaceship graveyard from TNG "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II". When the scene was redone three years later for DS9 "Emissary", a dicision was made to instead use the more detailed U.S.S. Excelsior model originally built for Star Trek III. Both models were given the same Starfleet registry number, but since the Excaelsior version was seen faitly cleary on screen, and the Nebula version was not seen well, we now assume that the Melbourne "really" was an Excelsior-class ship. Star Trek Encyclopedia II , III |
| U.S.S. Okinawa | NCC-13958 |
|
The Okinawa was once commanded by the future Admiral Leyton. Benjamin Sisko served
as Executive Officer under Leyton. DS9 "Homefront" Benjamin Sisko fought in the Tzenkethi war alongside Leyton while aboard the Okinawa. DS9 "Paradise Lost" Named for the islands in the South China Sea that were the scene of heavy fighting near the end of Earth's second world war. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Potemkin | NCC-18253 |
|
Wiliam T. Riker served aboard this vessel prior to his assignments to the Hood and
the Enterprise-D, but after the Pegasus. Riker once employed the unconventional tactic of positioning the ship over a planet's
magnetic pole, thus making the ship difficult to detect by an opponent's sensors. TNG "Peak Performance" In 2361, as a lieutenant aboard the Potemkin, Riker lead an away team to evacute the science outpost on planet Nervala IV, and subsequently was promoted to lieutenant commander and commended for "exceptional valor" on the mission. It was not realized until later that a duplicate of Riker had been created in a atransporter malfunction during the evacuation. TNG "Second Changes" During the same year, the Potemkin was the last Federation starship to make contact with the failed Turkana IV colony, prior to the Enterprise-D's mission there in 2367. Potemkin personnel were warned by the colony's ruling cadres not to transport to the surface, or they would be killed. TNG "Legacy" The Potemkin rendezvous with the Enterprise-D on stardate 45587 to transfer Dr. Toby Russel to the Enterprise-D. TNG "Ethics" In 2374 the U.S.S. Potemkin was part of the Ninth Fleet headquartered at starbase Deep Space 9, defending the Bajor Sector during the Dominion war. DS9 "You Are Cordially Invited" Named for Grigory Aleksandrovich Potemkin, (1739-1791), Russian military figure under Catherine II. Star Trek Encyclopedia II , III |
| U.S.S. Repulse | NCC-2544 |
|
Captain Taggert commanding. Dr. Katherine Pulaski served aboard the Repulse prior
to her assigment to the Enterprise-D in 2365. TNG "The Child" Named for the British battle cruiser that fought in Earth's World War II. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Roosevelt | NCC-2573 | Then Roosevelt was among the ships lost at the battle of Wolf 359. Dr. Riley
Frazier was a science officer aboard the Roosevelt before she was assimilated by the Borg. VOY "Unity" Named for American president Theodore Roosevelt. Star Trek Encyclopedia II
| U.S.S. Tecumseh | NCC-14934 |
|
In 2373, the Tecumseh and the Starship Rutledge were ordered to launch a
counterattack against Klingon forces in the Archanis sector. The science officer of the Tecumseh was the husband of Dr. Kalandra.
DS9 "Nor the Battle to the Strong" Star Trek Encyclopedia II After a battle against the Dominion in 2374, the Tecumseh reported 1 crewmember KIA, 2 crewmembers MIA, and 1 crewmember WIA. DS9 "In The Pale Moonlight" |
| U.S.S. Valley Forge | NCC-43305 |
|
The Valley Forge fought in the combined fleet of allied Alpha Quadrant forces that
invaded Cardassian space at the Chin'toka System in late 2374. DS9 "Tears of the Prophets" The name was not in dialog, seen only very faintly on the ship's hull in visual effects scenes. Named for the site in Pennsylvania where General George Washington's troops spent a bitter winter during the American Revoltutionary War. Star Trek Encyclopedia III |
