| U.S.S. Gander | NCC-72311 |
|
A runabout assigned to DS9; taken by Ezri to search for Worf. It was attacked by
Jem'Hadar, and destroyed after Ezri and Worf abandoned it. Destroyed by Jem'Hadar over planet Goralis (2375). DS9 "Penumbra" ; DECIPHER Star Trek Roleplaying Game Starships Book The script and the closed captioning spell it "Ganges", which of course is the name of a runabout that was destroyed in the 2nd season; obviously a script error that TPTB tried to cover by dubbing the name "Gander" into the audio track. Gander is the name of a river in Canada, thus keeping up the tradition of naming runabouts after Earth rivers.) |
| U.S.S. Ganges | NCC-72454 |
|
One of three ruabouts assigned to station Deep Space 9. DS9 "Pat Prologue" The Ganges was first seen in DS9 "Past Prologue". In that episode, it sported a "roll bar" that contained sensor equipment. From a visual-effects stanpoint, the porpose of the roll bar was to make it easier to tell the Ganges from the Yangtzee Kiang in that episode's chase sequence. The Ganges was also seen in DS9 "Q-Less", DS9 "Vortex" and DS9 "The Siege". The Ganges was destroyed by a T'Lani munitions cruiser in 2370. DS9 "Armageddon Game". The ship was named after the river in northern India and eastern Pakistan that flows 1560 miles from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Mekong | NCC-72617 |
|
Assigned to Station Deep Space 9. DS9 "Playing God" , DS9 "Whispers" , DS9 "The Maquis, Part II" , DS9 "The Jem'Hadar" , DS9 "Heart of Stone". The Mekong was destroyed in the aftermath of the disastrous Cardassian-Romulan attack on the Founder's homeworld in 2371. DS9 "The Die is Cast" The Mekong replaced the Ganges and was first seen in "Playing God". It was named after the river in southeast Asia that flows south to the China Sea. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Orinoco | NCC-72905 |
|
Attached to Station Deep Space 9. DS9 "The Siege" The Orinoco was destroyed in 2372 when a Cardassian separatist group calling themselves The True Way sabotaged the runabout's warp core. DS9 "Our Man Bashir". The Orinoco was first seen in DS9 "The Siege". It was also seen in DS9 "Invasive Procedurs", DS9 "Shadowplay", DS9 "Paradise", DS9 "The Maquis, Part II", and the DS9 "The Jem'Hadar". The Orinoco was named after the 1700-mile-long river in Venezuela. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Rio Grande | NCC-72452 |
|
One of three runabouts originally assigned to station Deep Soace 9. DS9 "Emissary" It was also seen throughout the run of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Members of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine art department, noticing that the Rio Grande seems to be the longest-lived (and therefore the safest) of any of the runabouts assigned to the station, strongly recommend that if you must travel by runabout, you should choose the Rio Grande. (Just a suggestion..). Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Rubicon | NCC-72936 |
|
Assigned to station Deep Space 9 in 2371. The ship was anmed by Commander Benjamin
Sisko. DS9 "Family Business" Doctor Bashir and Chief O'Brien used the Rubicon to conduct a bio-survey of Merik III just prior to stardate 49066.5. Shortly thereafter, the Rubicon was forced to make an emergency landing on planet Bopak III after a group of Jem'Hadar hit the runabout with a subspace magneton pulse. After being held prisoners by a group of Jem'Hadar led by Goran'Agar, Bashir and O'Brien returned to station Deep Space 9 aboard the Rubicon. DS9 "Hippocratic Oath" On stardate 51474.2, the Rubicon was used to investigate a rare subspace sompression anomaly discovered in Federation space. The runabout, piloted by Jadzia Dax, Julian Bashir, and Miles O'Brien, entered the phenomenon and were subjected to severe spatial distortions. The pheomenon miniaturized the ship, reducing the crew to the height of about one centimeter. This extraordinary condition enabled the Rubican crew to play a pivotal role inrecapturing th Starship Defaint from a Jem'Hadar squad. Later, re-entering the anomaly restored the Rubicon to normal size. DS9 "One Little Ship" The Rubicon replaced the Mekong, lost in DS9 "The Die Is Cast". The Rubicon was named after the river in Italy that was strategic importance to Caesar in 49 B.C.. Star Trek Encyclopedia II , III |
| U.S.S. Shenandoah | NCC-73024 |
|
Assigned to starbase Deep Space 9. In 2374, on stardate 51597,2, Lietenant Commander
Worf and Jadzia Dax took the Shenandoah on a mission to extract a Cardassian defector from the Dominion base on planet Soukara. The
mission was a failure. DS9 "Change of Heart" On Stardate 51825, Ensign Nog and Jake Sisko took the Shenandoah from Starbase 257 on a mission to deliver an official diplomatic messages to Grand Nagus Zek on Ferenginar. En route the vessel was attacked by Jem'Hadar fighters. The crew abandoned ship and were rescued by the Starship Valiant. DS9 "Valiant" Star Trek Encyclopedia III |
| U.S.S. Volga | NCC-73196 |
|
Assigned to Deep Space 9. In 2372, Major Kira, Doctor Bashir, and Keiko O'Brien used
the Volga to journey to Torad IV to conduct a three-day botanical survey. On the return trip, the ship encountered an asteroid field
which overwhelmed the ship's deflectors. A large rock sideswiped the ship, and O'Brien was severely injured. DS9 "Body Parts" The Volga was to have been used in the massive response to an anticipated Dominion invasion of the Alpha Quadrant in 2373. DS9 "By Inderno's Light" Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Yangtzee Kiang | NCC-72453 |
|
One of three runabouts assigment to station Deep Space 9. DS9 "Emissary" , DS9 "Past Prologue" The Yangtzee Kiang was destroyed in a crash on a penal-colony moon in the Gamma Quadrant, Bajoran religios leader Kai Opaka was killed in the crash, although artifical microbes in the moon's environment later restored her to life, for as long as she remained there. DS9 "Battle Lines" The Yangtzee Kiang was replaced on Deep Space 9 by the U.S.S. Orinoco. DS9 "The Siege" Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| U.S.S. Yukon | NCC-74602 |
|
Assigned to station Deep Space 9. In 2372, Major Kira and Chief O'Brien used the Yukon
to make an inspection tour of the Bajoran colonies along the Cardassians border. DS9 "By Inferno's Light" The Yukon replaced the runabout orinoco, which was destroyed in DS9 "Our Man Bashir". The Yukon was named after the river in Nordwest Canada and central Alaska flowing 1,979 miles to the Bering Sea. The Yukon was destroyed in DS9 "Inferno's Light". Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| NCC-73918 |
|
The NCC-73918 was a Danube-class Federation runabout in service in 2375. It was stationed at Deep Space 9.
Runabouts are usually named, but this one was never referred to by any name DS9 "Tacking Into the Wind" Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference | |
| Runabout (Enterprise-D) |
|
The USS Enterprise-D could carry at least three Danube-class runabouts in its shuttlebays.
(DS9: "Emissary") One runabout assigned to the Enterprise was used by Captain Picard to attend a conference in 2369. It was while onboard this runabout and returning from the conference that Enterprise personnel Picard, Troi, La Forge and Data discovered the Enterprise and a Romulan Warbird locked in a temporal fracture in the spacetime continuum. Ultimately, the runabout was deliberately destroyed via remote control by Picard from the Enterprise's bridge. The vessel was steered into a power transfer beam, which was the direct cause of the temporal fractures. TNG "Timescape" Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference |
