In 2368, the Berman was in the main shuttlebay when it was decompressed to kick the Enterprise free of a collision with the USS Bozeman. TNG "Cause and Effect" The Berman was named for producer Rick Berman. The name was not legible on screen, but placed on one of the shuttles by model maker Ed Miarecki. The Micro Machines Type 6 shuttlecraft model was marked as the Berman. Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference "1701-D Hangar Deck" miniature set built by Ed Miarecki. |
| Curie | NCC-1701-D #03 |
|
Assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise-D. In 2370, Lietenant Worf took the Curie to Forcas III to complete in the bat'leth competition there. During his return trip, Worf
encountered a quantum fissure and caused himself to be propelled into a series of alternate quatum realities. When Worf's quatum shifting was finally discovered, the Curie
was used to seal the quantum fissure, by sending the ship back through the rift and emitting a broad-spectrum warp field. TNG "Parallels" Later that same year, Joret Dal was sent back across the Cardassian border in the Curie. The ship was not returned. TNG "Lower Decks" Named for physicist Sklodowska Curie. | Justman | NCC-1701-D #03 |
|
The Justman was fitted with the metaphasic shiel emitter in order to the test the technology developed by Dr. Reyga in 2369. TNG "Suspicions" Earlier that year, a simulation of the Justman served to transport the computer-based intelligence known as Professor James Mariarty into a computer-genrated environment. TNG "Ship in a Bottle" The Justman is also visible in TNG "Gambit, Part II", sitting in the shuttlebay behind Koral's shuttle. The Justman was named by Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman, in honor of his colleague Star Trek producer Robert H. Justman, a veteran of both the original Star Trek series and Star Trek: Next Generation. The full-sized shuttlecraft filmed on stage was labeled "Justman", although a different shuttle design was seen in the visual effects of a miniature shuttle in flight. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| Magellan | NCC-1701-D #15 |
|
The Magellan, piloted by Worf, was launched on a rescue mission when Captain Picard was trapped on planet El-Adrel IV in 2368. A Tamarian vessel fired on the Magellan,
carefully disabling it so that it was forced to return to the Enterprise-D. The Tamarians had sought to isolate Picard and their captain on El-Adrel IV so that they might
have a change to learn to communicate. TNG "Darmok" The Magellan participated in a recue mission of the J'naii shuttle Taris Murn in 2368. The Magellan had two 1,250 millicochrane warp engines and microfusion impulse thrusters. Such shuttles are normally unarmed, but can be equipped with two phaser type-4 emitters for special mission requirements. The rescue of the J'naii shuttle was successful, but the Magellan was destroyed in the process. TNG "The Outcast" The Magellan was named for Spanish navigator Ferdinand Magellan, the first explorer to circumnavigate planet Earth. This was the first appearance of the new full-sized shuttle set and model introduced during the fith season. The ship was an extensive modifiaction of the Galileo 5 shuttle built for Star Trek V. Designers included Richard James, Nilo Rodis, Herman Zimmerman, Andy Neskoromny, and Rick Sternbach. The model was built by Greg Jein. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| Piller | NCC-1701-D |
|
The shuttlecraft Piller was a type-6 shuttlecraft onboard the USS Enterprise-D. In 2368, the Piller was in the main shuttlebay when it was decompressed to kick the
Enterprise free of a collision with the USS Bozeman. The Piller was named for producer Michael Piller. The name was not legible on screen, but placed on one of the shuttles by modelmaker Ed Miarecki. TNG "Cause and Effect" Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference |
| Sacajawea | NCC 74656 #05 |
|
Type-6 shuttlecraft carried aboard the U.S.S. Voyager. In 2373 the Sacajawea became caught in a magnetic storm and crashed on a planet in a binary system in the Delta
Quadrant. Kathryn Janewy was almost killed in the crash. VOY "Coda" The shuttle was named for the Shoshone woman who guided the Lewis and Clark expedition to the Pacific Northwest. Star Trek Encyclopedia II |
| Verne | RS-47 |
|
The Verne was a Type 6 shuttlecraft, registry RS-47, assigned to Relay Station 47 in 2369. Lieutenant Aquiel Uhnari used the Verne to escape the relay station after her
colleague's murder, but was captured by Klingon patrols; a later search of the Verne uncovered a type 2 phaser set to kill. TNG "Aquiel" Named for the French science fiction author Jules Verne. The name Verne was not referred to in the dialog or script, but was visible on the exterior of the shuttlecraft. Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference |
| Von Braun | NCC-1701-D #04 |
|
Von Braun attached to the USS Enterprise-D in the 2360's. It was shuttlecraft number 04. In early 2366, the Von Braun was listed on the shuttlebay operations display as being available for use in Hangar 3. TNG "Evolution" Two years later, the Von Braun was used to transport rescue crews to a damaged Romulan science vessel. The Von Braun was delayed in leaving the Romulan ship, requiring Data and Worf in the shuttle Goddard to hold their approach. TNG "The Next Phase" Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference On the Display in TNG "Evolution" the Von Braun was a Type 7 Shuttlecraft. |
| NCC-71325 |
|
NCC-71325 is the registry number of a Federation starship which detached a shuttlecraft in order to carry Tom Paris and Lieutenant Stadi to DS9 in order for them to join
Voyager's crew. Unfortunately, no one has ever been able to figure out what this ship was named since it's registry was the only readable marking visible on the side of the shuttle. Additionally, the number on the hull changes to 1701-D and then to 74656 as the shuttle approaches Deep Space 9. VOY "Caretaker" Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference |

| History: | ||
| The type-6 shuttle is a short range craft. For propulsion, it is equipped with two 1250 millicochrane warp nacelles and microfusion thrusters.
There is no standard armament, but the shuttlecraft can be equipped with two type IV phaser emitters for special purposes. The shuttle also features a navigational deflector
and redundant graviton polarity source generators. A transporter assembly is also not standard, but the shuttle can be fitted with a portable array. The control systems are
intuitive, and a non-Federation pilot can quickly learn to fly the craft. (TNG: "The Outcast") Type-6 shuttles are easily configurable for testing of a variety of
technologies. (TNG: "Suspicions") Entry to the shuttle was through a large hatch in the rear of the vessel. The hatch could be opened via a control pad next to the impulse engines. There were benches for passenger seating in the aft section, and ample room for cargo. A separate systems display was also found in the aft area (TNG: "The Outcast") as were storage bins (TNG: "Suspicions") By 2374, phaser emitters, deflector shields, and a transporter array were standard equipment onboard type-6 shuttles.
