	History:
	The Cortéz was part of the task force commanded by Captain Sisko to retake station Deep Space 9 during the Dominion war in 2374. DS9 "Favor the Bold" ; DS9 "Sacrifice of Angels" The Cortéz was reported missing and was presumed destroyed shortly after the retaking of station Deep Space 9. At the time of its disappeararance, the ship had been commanded by Captain Quentin Swofford. DS9 "Far Beyond the Stars" The ship was named for Hernán Cortéz, the Spanish conquistador who overthrew the Aztec empire and won Mexico for the crown of Spain. Star Trek Encyclopedia III
