NCC-4000 was the registry of a Federation transport container, at one time connected to the Ptolemy-class starship NCC-3801.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock The registry and design for this container was originally derived from the Star Fleet Technical Manual. The actual phrase (which was obfuscated on the display by the host ship's warp nacelle) is Star Fleet Transport Command. According the that book, the pod's registry, NCC-4000, indicates that she is a member of the Starliner series of transport pods. Text from the Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference |

| History: | ||
| The Ptolemy class tug/transports were a class of starship in operation in the 23rd century. Based on the standard Starfleet design tree and
hull components of the time, the Ptolemy class but replaced the engineering hull of the Constitution class with a connector at the base of the connecting neck. This could
accept a variety of transport containers. The Ptolemy class starship was seen on a display in the Starfleet Academy's training simulation in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, thus canonizing its existence. The Star Fleet Technical Manual lists almost 140 additional ships of the class. Most appear to be named after prominent scientists/mathematicians, including the USS Al-Rashid, USS Copernicus and the USS Pythagoras. It gave the vessel dimensions of 222m length, 127.1m beam, and 66m height, with a mass of 126,500 metric tons; crew compliment of 220, maximum speed of warp 6, and 4 phaser banks.
