History:
A humanoid race distinguished by multiple horizontal facial ridges. Sometime prior to 2366, a few members of the Zalkonian race began suffering from painful isoelectrical bursts and exhibiting strange mutations of their tissues. The Zalkonian government, fearful of these new beings, persecuted and attempted to kill everyone who experienced these mutations. One Zalkonian, who became known as John Doe, escaped his homeworld, and was successful in allowing the metamorphosis abord the Enterprise-D in 2366, becoming the first of his race to transmute into a noncorporeal being.
