History:
The small pre-warp vessel of the doomed Valakian race was discovered by Enterprise drifting becalmed in space, its two occupants unconscious. When, revived they claimed to be searching for a cure for the disease that had killed some 12 million people on Valakis. At first eager to help, Archer and Dr Phlox offered their assistance. As time progressed, however, Phlox surmised that the condition was genetic and possibly irreparable. Besides which, the cure may retard the development of the Menk, the other natives of Valakis. Archer's eventual decision was not to interfere with the natural development of the cultures but to offer medicine to ease the symptoms of the disease.
The ship resembled a 20th Century Earth shuttle with wings at either side of the hull and a tailplane on the dorsal surface, suggesting that it could be flown in an atmosphere. Propulsion modules were located on the flanks of the hull above the wings, tapering inward towards the rear.
