Son'a
History:
Spacefaring humanoid civilization. The Son'a were a nomadic and largely hedonistic people who lived in
opulence and coveted such material objects as jewels and precious metals. They were originally from the Ba'ku planet, but joined with
offlanders around 2275 in an unsuccessful bid to take control of the idyllic Ba'ku society. The Ba'ku elders banished the renegades, who
later called themselves the Son'a. In 2325, the Son'a conquered and enslaved the Tarlac and Ellora peoples. By 2375, genetic anomalies
prevented the Son'a from procreation. They used genetic manipulation and other cosmetic techniques to extend life and physical
appearance, but they knew they were a dying society. In a desperate second attempt to take control of their old homeworld, the Son'a, led
by Ahdar Ru'afo, allied themselves in 2375 with renegade Starfleet officer Admiral Matthew Dougherty. Ru'afo and Dougherty had hoped to
abduct the entire Ba'ku population, some 600 individuals, without their knowledge by using a holoship, clearing the Ba'ku planet for
Son'a use. After Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise-E stopped Ru'afo's plan, at least some of the surviving Son'a found
themselves cautiously accepted back into Ba'ku soviety.
