Arkonian

History:
A race of reptilian humanoids that had a long-standing distrust of the Vulcans. They had scaly,
hairless grey skin and a lizard-like crest on their heads. Remarkably they could cauterize wounds with their corrosive saliva. Not
being mammalian, it seems they were vulnerable to extremes of temperature: unable to sweat to withstand the heat nor to generate
warmth when it became too cold. In 2152, Enterprise unwittingly trespassed in Arkonian territory while surveying a planet with an
unusually large number of moons. Tucker's shuttlepod was attacked by an Arkonian fighter and both crashlanded on one of the satellite
bodies. Although initially hostile, Tucker gained the trust of the Arkonian pilot Zho'Kaan and they collaborated to send a distress
signal while battling the searing climate. Archer also had to win over Khata'n Zshaar, the representative of the Arkonian Tribunal,
against the misgivings of T'Pol. Unable to beam up the pilots because Zho'Kaan was too dehydrated, they modified a shuttle to withstand
the atmospheric isotopes that had disabled the other craft. T'Pol later commented that Archer had forged a better relationship with
the Arkonians in a day than the Vulcans had managed in the past century.
