Powerful automated defence station developed by the Cardassian military for use during the Dominion war. The stations employed regenerative force fields for hull protection and were equipped with 1,00 plasma torpedoes. Power was supplied by subspace link from a central generator at a remote site, typically a nearbly moon. A network of orbital weapons platforms were deployed in late 2374 to defence the Chin'toka System. Cardassian startegists had hopped that use of the platforms would permit reassignment of valuable warships to other systems, but allied Alpha Quadrant forces were able to destroy the devies, resulting in capture of the system by alied forces.
