| Terok Nor |
|
Cardassian minig space station in Bajoran space. Terok Nor was the original
Cardassian designation for the station that became known as Deep Space 9. DS9 "Cardassian" Terok Nor was command by Gul Dukat during the Cardassian occupation of planet Bajor. During the Cardassian occupation, Terok Nor's main function was to process raw uridium ore using the forced labor of Bajoran prisoners. When in full operation the station was capable of processing 20,000 tons of ore per day. DS9 "Civil Defense" Bajorans assigned to the station were housed in community quaters. Only those Bajorans in favor with the Cardassian commanders had private Quarters. DS9 "Necessary Evil" The Station became operational in 2346. DS9 "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night" The earlier editions of this encxclopedia (as well as the Star Trek Chronology) gave the date for the station's construction as 2351, as inferred from DS9 "Babel", but DS9 "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night" clearly established the date as 2346. The Name Terok Nor came back into use in 2374 when Deep Space 9 was returned to Cardassian control during the Dominion War. DS9 "Call to Arms" Star Trek Encyclopedia II ; Star Trek Encyclopedia III |
| Empok Nor |
|
Cardassian space station located in the Trivas system. Empok Nor, which was
abandoned by the Cardassian military in 2372, was nearly indentical in design to station Terok Nor. A team from Deep Space 9
conducted a salvage mission to Empok Nor in 2373 to obtain abandoned Cardassian hardware for use on the former Terok Nor. As a
precaution against such unauthorized intruders, three soldiers of the Cardassian First Order's Third Battalion were left behind in
stasis to defend the station if need be. Their stasis chambers were programmed to revive if station sensors detected an intruder.
The soldiers were treated with powerful psychotropic drugs, giving them a heightened sense of paranoia toward outsiders, making
them even more effective at defending the station. DS9 "Empok Nor" Nearly a year later, a team of mercenaries led by Quark met at Embok Nor with a Dominion contingent for the purposes of a prisoner exchange. DS9 "The Magnificent Ferengi" Empok Nor and its interior sets were, of course, re-dresses of standing sets of station Deep Space 9. Star Trek Encyclopedia III |
